This sport-inspired watch from TAG Heuer is part of the Formula 1 collection. Crafted from the finest stainless steel and completed with a fine brushed finish, this piece features a matching bracelet, as well as a double safety clasp with “racing suit” extension. A sandblasted and polished steel cog shaped frame and mat blue aluminium fixed bezel surrounds the dial, hosting a handy tachymetre applied in an attractive silver tone. Beneath the protective sapphire crystal glass dome is the alluring dial, combining a blue background with silver detailing and orange accenting resulting in a speedometer themed appearance. Encircling the outer edge is a minute’s scale applied onto a darker blue circle with each minute represented by a singular white ‘I’ marker and every 5 minutes shown as the corresponding digits in an eye-catching orange colour, with the exception of the 60 minute marker which is represented by an upturned triangular indicator. On the inside section is a lighter blue background containing the number 12 and a series of rectangular batons in silver representing each hour, as well as a duo of tapered silver dial hands displaying hours and minutes and a much thinner orange pointer signifying seconds. A trio of sub dials at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock offer chronograph functionality with the dial at 3 o’clock acting as a running seconds counter, the dial at 6 o’clock displaying 1/10th of a second and hours, and the dial at 9 o’clock providing a minute counter; all of which are operated by the polished steel push buttons located either side of the “easy grip” steel crown. A useful date window has been applied at the 4 o’clock position near the bottom sub dial, which features white ‘TAG HEUER’ branding and orange ‘FORMULA 1’ labelling on either side. The brands signature green and red shield emblem offer a classic finishing detail, resulting in a fantastic aesthetic assured to be admired by many. The power in this watch is generated by the brand’s reliable quartz movement, which consists of an electrical current causing the crystal to vibrate a consistently high frequency of 32,768 times per second, creating a near perfect level of precision varying only a few seconds per month. A final attribute of 200 metres water resistance provides an astounding quality, concluding a watch representing both TAG Heuer and Formula 1 perfectly.
